Floor leveling? What is the appropriate way of leveling a floor? | |
I have a products called Levelquick which is self leveling, however I am going to put 1/4 hardi backer over top of the level quick (which will be built up to about 1/2 inch) My question is will the level quick crack when I screw down the Hardi backer. I am also setting the hardi backer in thinset per hardi backers specs. Should I predrill the holes?
Answers:
1Check the manufacturers advice on the curing time for the self leveller and stick to it. I would add a few extra days to be safe and keep the suface cool by spraying it with water after it has initially gone off. With any material like this if it goes off too quick it will not be as strong. It should handle drilling fine once cured. If still in doubt then dont have your drill on hammer until you are through the self leveller. You could pre drill the holes but wont your self leveller just fill them in? You will have to re drill then.

if you are insisting on screwing the hardy board down is it a concrete sub floor or wood that will make it a little different also what type of flooring are you deciding to put down. if you pour the leveler you should not have to have a hardy board.
